Food Microbiology - 1 trimester
Salmonella. E. coli 0157:H7. Listeria. Do these words sound familiar? Through this course, we will look at the safety of our country’s food supply, and the laws put in place to ensure that our food supply is safe. Furthermore, students will study the biology and potential danger of different microorganisms that cause foodborne illnesses in humans and spoilage in food products. As the global concern rises for the safety of the world food supply, this area of food science continues to grow and offer exciting career possibilities which will also be explored in this course!
