Mr. Jones Science Class
  • Science education is the field concerned with sharing science content and process with individuals not traditionally considered part of the scientific community. The learners may be children, college students, or adults within the general public; the field of science education includes work in science content, science process (the scientific method), some social science, and some teaching pedagogy. The standards for science education provide expectations for the development of understanding for students through the entire course of their K-12 education and beyond. The traditional subjects included in the standards are physical, life, earth, space, and human sciences.

I have been a science teacher for 15 years now and I love being able to apply science and do the hands-on learning that we get to do. I am new to Minnesota, as well as AFSA, and enjoy seeing some of the students really love doing the stuff we are able to do in the science classrooms. The staff and students have been very welcoming to me and have helped me get settled into my new school and new city that I am now calling home.

Hi all! I am excited for another year of teaching and learning at AFSA. I hope to help students build scientific literacy and numeracy regardless of their future profession. I feel that AFSA has a fantastic educational program in place to foster these skills and prepare students to be contributing members of society. I believe that to be successful, students need grit and perseverance to overcome obstacles that come their way. When I am not teaching, I like to spend my time with my family (my wife Natalie, our son Finn, and our new dog Chip).
